How did anime become part of your life?
Anyways, I hope that this topic wasn't covered already by someone else...

We already talked about how people found konachan, but how did you guys find ANIME?
Was it an epiphany, or a gradual process?
What were the first anime you saw/watched?
And most importantly(you don't have to answer if it's uncomfortable)
How old were you when it happened?
I was 4 years old when I first saw Pokemon on TV, then I saw Dragon Ball...
I suggest you actually title the thread in a way that is related to the topic. xD'

I didn't really have to think much of it, anime played in our local TV channels. That's how I got exposed to Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball.

But greater exposure came afterwards through a friend of my cousin, who was dealing in trading VHS copies of other, more obscure anime. That's how I learned of the.. ahem, darker sides, of the anime world.

I must have been watching anime without knowing it since I was 5 or earlier @_@
Toonami introduced me to it. Needless to say I'm glad it's back.

As for how I find anime titles to watch, I either find them through pics of this site and the comments that follow them, or through AnimeSource's "Can you guess the anime?" box.

That reminded me... I stopped watching TV when my cable company removed the only channel that used to play anime from time to time. It's been over 15 years, and I can't say I miss it. Anime on the net is so much better xD' (specially because I don't have to endure dubs any more :B)

I suggest you follow this bit of advice.
Fhhhewwww!!
I thought my topic was being locked again...

BTW Stahn, how did YOU find anime?

That can be arranged. Change the thread title to something more indicative of the topic for discussion before I decide the title is trollish in nature.
I see that you learned some sarcasm from me.....

Anyways, we're getting sidetracked here!
Need more posts!
Dragonball Z pokemon and crayon shin chan were on TV, I hated school and people and pretty much everything else besides computer games. It didn't take very long for me to accept such new worlds into my own. I never really understood why so few people I knew didn't like shin chan (their main argument was something like "it looks funny" , maybe the different styles freaked them out?)
Oh, just thought I should mention:
If you don't want to pour your heart out in here, just don't...

(no connection to previous posts, just thought I should mention as well)

Well if I did that there wouldn't be a point in scrolling anymore :D
I also jumped from there to other series , a lot of mainstream but I don't really give an F&*!# that people hipster mode on me for that. There's a lot of good stuff in there and I like it :D
yeah, I never understood that either, whatever that was you were saying.....

What do people mean by "mainstream"?
...I watched it. If it weren't for digital cable, I wouldn't be able to watch it. Too bad cable costs $100 fucking dollars a month.
My first taste of anime was Dragon Ball and whatever else they played on Toonami. I can't remember any other show. Back then though I didn't know I was watching anime and thought they were just really weird actiony cartoons. Eventually I lost intrest in them.

Then about two years ago, a guy I follow on youtube mentioned Highschool of The Dead. I thought, "Hot girls and zombies, why not?" Watched it and have been addicted to anime ever since.
I first started watching anime back when i was... 5? Honestly i don't know exactly how old i was when i saw my first anime but i was really small. My first anime or should i say the first anime i was really invested in was pokemon. I watched some others like Hamtaro and Dragonball but pokemon was my entire life back then. Despite watching a number of anime growing up i didn't even know what an "Anime" was until a few years ago. But as soon as i could put a label on these great works i devoted all of my free time to them. However i couldn't see much anime until my parents finally broke down and got me a labtop. Now i watch anime 24/7 and i couldn't be happier! ^w^

@Gregol I'm curious, you started this thread and yet you haven't told us how you were introduced to anime. And btw, a Mainstream Anime is basically an anime that is well known, popular and based on a large franchise. They're typically Shounen anime like Naruto, Bleach and Fairy Tail.
Damn, ecchi figured me out!

Well, I was about four when I first saw pokemon or digimon or whatever that was.
Then anytime my parents left me on my own with the TV, I'd browse the channels for some anime-looking thing. Thus I saw princess mononoke, but didn't know I had until ten years after.
When I was 10/12 I enjoyed one piece and naruto(whenever my parents were away)
The first show i saw completely was Mobile Suit Gundam Wing.
The first anime I watched online was KoiKoi 7(at the age of 15)
Then I remembered that those popular loitumagirl videos contained scenes from Bleach(I read about it on wikipedia when I was about 13). Watched that, but dropped it as soon as the Youtube episodes ran out.
I've been watching anime ever since.
Ooh god ... How could I forget digimon.
I loved digimon back then!
Now when I look at it I'm like.... why do they use the evolution thingy so often and so strangely, but back then I thought it was the best of the best.

>_> the kitty kitty and Tai's little sister ..... never forget QQ
Pssst guys, Medabots!
never finished that one.
Or cardcaptor
