Yay! Another post! But emmy-chan I think it's best that you provide links to these songs or at least their names. I assume you mean the Broken Blade opening? It's funny though, I didn't even know BB had an anime adaption in the first place ^_^' I think I'll look into it because the manga was kind of interesting.
I'd like to add the BlazBlue Console Opening (I can't seem to find an actual name for it, sorry) I'm not so sure about the animation/art style but I do like the music. The opening also gives me hope that BlazBlue will have an anime adaption someday.

Okay, let's see. A list of some of my most favorite OPs.
Nadesico opening song: You Get to BurningI loved to listen to this when I watched an episode. It got me pumped every episode!
Trigun opening song I can't find it's name, and it's only 1:30 minutes long unfortunately, but it really set the mood for a gunslinger, in my opinion.
Escaflowne opening I'm gonna include the whole opening in this one, not just the song, as they really work well together in making a song that communicates joy and freedom. And imagine my surprise when I found out that my mom had the show's OST!
Record of Lodoss War opening song: Kiseki no Umi I don't know what it is about this song. It may be her amazing voice, or that swaying sort of music, but I like it.
Fushigi Yugi season one opening song: For the Sake of My Beloved Awesome guitar combined with a sax, an amazing voice, and a brilliant flow despite the different parts.
Clannad After Story opening song: Toki wo Kizamu Uta I love the piano in this, as well as her voice, especially when they seem to be chanting quietly. In fact, I love the entire soundtrack to Clannad. Makes my heart lurch every time I hear it.
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha opening song: Innocent Starter I know that a few of you will recognize it. I like how this one starts kinda innocent, then blazes into a quick, strong pace. To me, it speaks of getting off the ground and fighting. Loads of fun to listen to when dueling with someone!
Well That's all I can remember off the top of my head. Quite a few of them are fairly old, and I'm not even going to get into endings at this point. Though, anything by Key is a safe bet that I'm gonna like it.

The name of the song is "Ao - Iconoclast", the artist is called Kotoko.ecchifan96 said:

Now that this thread has astonishingly (and with help from ecchifan) reached the second page, another favorite of mine: The Original Opening for Ys 6 The Ark of Napishtim. While being a good J-rock piece itself, I like it the most because of the alternative for it. Sounds odd, so let me explain.
In the european Version of the game, this Opening isn't used. They thought it would be best to make an opening for the western market (because we apparently buy japanese games but hate anime graphics). This idea is stupid enough, but guess what: the new opening sucked. As hell. It was so bad it isn't even on Youtube. So after years I found out that the real opening to this awesome game is awesome as well, and I still like to listen to it today.
Kawada Mami - Borderland (Jormungand OP). Idk I just like both the song and the opening in itself.
Mel - Red Fraction (Black Lagoon OP). I hope no one forgot about this.
DWB ft. Fade - One Reason (Deadman Wonderland OP). The opening in itself is good and I love the song a lot.
Theatre Brook - Uragiri no Yuuyake (DRRR! OP). This is simply a great opening.
Pre-Parade (Toradora OP 1). Because everything about it is awesome.
Silky Heart (Toradora OP2). Because same reason as the first opening from Toradora. Besides, I still have both Pre-Parade and Silky Heart on my phone ever since they came out (also Vanilla Salt and Orange as well-the two endings-) .
And here, a special opening.

No no, that one was really great too, I have it on my songlist. And I liked Pre-Parade as well, it is a great song, but Silky Heart... just isn't.Tensa said:

Have we expanded the thread to include ED's as well? Or is it still restricted to OP's only? If it's been expanded, you might want to change the thread title to reflect that.
I like No, THANK YOU!! the most (song and animation). LISTEN!! is my least favorite of the EDs. The animation for it I rate better than "Don't say lazy!" though. (S2 in general got a bump in animation quality.)
For OPs, I like GO! GO! MANIAC! the best (both song and animation). I like Cagayake! GIRLS the least overall. The animation matches the song, but it's feels kinda weak compared to the later S2 OP animations.
Personally, I generally prefer the EDs over the OPs. I prefer Mio (Hikasa Youko) as a singer more than Yui (Toyosaki Aki). On the bright side, the music and animation styles are tightly matched to the respective singers. (Yui's songs, the OPs, being perky and upbeat; Mio's were more moody and "cool", though LISTEN!! was kinda an oddball.)Wiresetc said:
Every opening and ending from K-On! is good imo.

Good to see there are more posts ^_^ I didn't want this thread to die so easily. And just so we're clear on this: are anime OST's reserved for the music thread only or is that an exception to the rule?
You can briefly mention them, I suppose, but that's more generalize music. This thread was concerned with OP/EDs and their actual animation.
aaah yes, the Angel Beats opening is a strong one, very well timed and directed. fantastic. that too must be one of my favorites. that and the OP from Clannad After Story.
best entertaining ending must go to Denpa Onna. it's such a childish and light hearted song, same goes to the visuals
for general amazing ending i'm all for Welcome to the NHK's second Ending. which is just above the Big Dango Family from Clannad. So much foreshadowing that you will not see until after finishing the second season!
I also love anime OSTs best piece must be Mobile Armour from Gundam UC by Hiroyuki Sawano
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyyYanXpshY
from 1:00 to 6:15 simply magical. The remnants of neozeon troops fighting to their last breath for their ideals! Slowly watching as their friends get blasted away one by one.

I don't know if I have a favorite opening/ending but I really like Clannad: After Story OP especially the first 18 seconds before the title and anohana OP (Looks like YT killed every OP so sorry for the broken videoplayer...)
Another thing is that I find many OP very very similar to each other... link

Toradora 2nd Ending, Orange. Final episode version, i prefer it cause they use the second verse of the song which fits the show just that much better.

speaking of similarities: An upward panning camera is simply one of the most standard ways of presenting a setting. Running is a very common way of saying the main character is going somewhere, that there's a journey to some place. and who doesnt just love a good epic head turn? it implies strength and confidence in a character, that they weren't paying attention to you, they are seemingly superior! oh and the longing look off into the distance while the wind blows on them is just that, it shows a conflict within the characters, that they want and need something. Oh the solo or otherwise pair sort of slo mo walk cycle suggests that the characters are going at their own pace, that they see things and/or want to do things differently. The twinkling tears explains itself. aaand thats all i got for now.
i really cant blame them for being similar, within a particular culture there can only be so many ways of symbolizing and/or implying certain things. That and so many works are done by the same or similar staff that repetition in the style of work is simply to be expected. Also certain directors like to work in specific things that they like, sort of like a calling card. A good example being the Basset hounds featured in practically everything by Mamoru Ooshi.

One of my favourites would be the second ED from Fairy Tail

Watching until the end of the episode, then hearing the music transition into that. It's just epic
There are other which I just can't remember now.
