To sorta break the discussion.

Did anybody see the new Amnesia trailer?
A machine for pigs. I'm not sure if everybody here knows amnesia. It's a horror 'survival' game. Not with zombies or anything. Focused on exploring, using your brains, and puzzles. It's one of the most, if not the most, scary game I've ever played. Remembering the part with the water just sends shivers down my spine.
Anyway, I'm really exited for a new one. The trailers looks good, and scary. I'm sure it will be another amazing game.
Never played Amnesia but watched some hilarious videos when people get scared such as this one. I plan to play Amnesia after my must do list been cleared.

Anyway I have just got assassin's creed brotherhood and revelations. Time to continue the campain from the second game.
Honestly, probably I can't really contribute to this thread because I don't keep up with the new games that are coming out. My brother is in charge of following gaming news and informing me of any new game that is worth looking into.

Personally, I don't like horror games, the closest one that I totally enjoyed was Eternal Darkness. Having a sanity meter and playing with your character going insane was one hell of a trip! An experience well worth it all the way.
BTW, anybody know if xenoblade is a good one?

Yes. If you have a Wii, you should play it.
Xenoblade? My brother won't stop talking about it. Supposedly it almost made it to RPG of the year (or it did? I don't follow such things). I saw him play the game quite a bit, it looked pretty good.

EDIT:

Speaking of games that we'd like to try out... ever since I bumped into Hyperdimension Neptunia some weeks ago at the mall, I've been wanting to play that game. I've read reviews and all that, and it seems to not be such a big deal of a game... but dammit, I rather like the setting and concept for it O.O'

I think I would have yielded to my desires and gotten that game already, if it weren't because I don't have a PS3 with me ¬¬'
It's a niche game for otakus of anime and games. Offical english game reviewers won't say good things about it but it's a really good game. It's sequel Mk2 is even better, and there is now a Hyperdimenion Neptunia V (Victory) 3rd game coming to Japan in August. Hope we get it here as well since we got both games already.

Dunno where you live, or for that matter gender, because I don't think you ever did one of those introductions in the Friendly Topic. Anyway just trying to say if you did live close to me I could let you try the game.
Bardicue, that would mean lending the console as well xD that's a bit too much for someone you hardly know.

The fact that it is a niche game for Otakus of Anime and Games is what makes me strongly desire to play it ;_; I personally wouldn't have a problem buying the game. However, I would have an issue with having to buy a console for it. Maybe I can just buy the game before going home for the holidays, that way I can play it in my brother's PS3.

Of course, there might be some issues with the region-locked involved >.< Gah, stupid anti-globalization techniques.

PS3 console is REGION-FREE for games. Just like the PSP. It's DVDs and BDs you'd have problems with, possibly. (Though Sony was fairly smart on the region-codes for BDs. Only three regions and they make much more sense than the DVD region codes.)

The only thing for Nepu you'd have to worry about is the DLC. Those are region-locked based on the version of the game you have. If you have the NA version, you'd need an NA PSN account to grab the NA version of the DLC for it. (Non-NA DLC won't work with an NA copy. Different versions of a game get different internal ID codes.)

Though if you grab Nepu (mk1) and not Nepu mk2, be aware the gameplay for mk1 is pretty bland and dull. mk2's combat system is comparatively much better. mk1 is only worth it for the jokes and humor (it's VERY JPN style humor as well.) Gameplay-wide, it kinda sucks (very tedious at times.) I have the game and loved it, but even I have to admit the actual gameplay is pretty "bleh". (I marathoned it for a couple weeks when it came out last year. I have the Collector's Edition.)

mk2 I have but haven't played much yet. ToG:F was released around the same time and I played that first. Wasn't a good idea since ToG:F completely spoiled me in terms of gameplay and graphics. Playing mk2 feels a little bit like a chore now. I'll hopefully get around to it at some point in full, though.
I managed to play and beat Mk2 before Graces came out, but I need to go back to it because of the DLC events and the different endings for the CG's.

And SK I actually trust people a bit better here than other places on the internet and even some people I do know.

For other games, there is also the Agarest War series and the latest Atelier series which both series are 3 games wide now. Agarest War 2 is coming in a few weeks but I won't be able to play it because I haven't even been able to beat the first one yet, so I can't play Agarest War Zero either. I haven't even touched the Atelier games even though I have all 3 now as well. I think at least back then it was because of the lack of a good strategy guide, since I like to use them for most RPG games. That's another thing I like about Neptunia, you don't actually need to read a guide, you're just able to play and it gets you in the right direction easily enough.

Yeah... I wound up buying them at the same time due to finances when mk2 came out. (Otherwise I would've bought the Collector's edition of mk2 as well.) Since I was craving a Tales game for a while, I played ToG:F first.

I played amnesia, while i apreciated the scares, i got about half through the game with no enemy in sight so i just got bored and left it.
I played Amnesia, in the dark....with a storm going... scariest thing I've ever done. The water room with the scariest part imo, after that it wasn't as bad.
I don't understand why the "water part" is known as the scariest part. I think it was the most stressed part seeing as you had to first pull up a door and get through it before a certain amount of time AND you had to distract the water thing and pull up a door using a very inefficient wheel.

My "scariest" part was the first time you see the grunt. Not in the guest room, but in the first storage. You pick up a certain item down a certain hallway and a "poofer" version of the grunt stares at you for nearly half a minute down the hallway.

Wait this game have different ending... sheesh I will have to pass so much time on it... I buy the first and the second one what a month ago and I'm already an hardcore fan, those game are awesome
mk1 has 2 endings (Normal and True). True just requires you to get ALL the CPUs to be on your team when you beat the game. Otherwise, you get the normal ending.

mk2 has a handful of endings from what little I know right now. I don't know the details for them, though.

The first time you'll walk through the water there, you just don't expect some kind of ghostly shark to pop up behind you. The sound, the water, ughh.. After a couple of times you'll know what to expect but it was still scary.
Anybody with a 3DS and has tried Heroes of Ruin?
Curious mind here wants to know opinions.
I just finished Little Busters! and Oh My God what a beautiful story T.T

Seriously every story Key do is a masterpeice. What is left is rewrite for now. I'll wait for you translated version.
Yesterday I bought Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus for the PS Vita, and today I finished it on Normal difficulty, man it was so frustrating and hard, you keep dying and dying, took me 9 hours to complete it, and now its time for hard difficulty, which will probably take me about 15 hours to complete, and then there is VERY hard, which is impossibru...

Oh so I need to convince Blanc, Vert and Noire to help me... man why do I feel like it going to be a pain to get Blanc support... maybe I'll try to get some tangerine somewhere... or books XD
It's not hard. You just need to get 80% or something of the shares that represent each of them. It was a pain in the ass when I found that out cause they were all low with the enemy shares so high so it took a while, plus you don't know what shares are gained and what are lossed in the first game. The 2nd game though was still a pain, especially for Lastation.

Oh I see well it going to be easy, I already do so much sub-quest that the I got around 30% of the share of all... in chapter 2. I guess I will not have any trouble to get their support
So apparently one of the few shooters I was interested in is a massive FAIL on my preferred platform for this genre. And considering who the publisher is, this isn't coming off as a surprise anymore. What, which, and who am I talking about?

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier for PC by none other than UBISOFT.
UBISOFT is practically making pissing off the PC gamers an art form. (Even I have issues with their shit.) I guess I shouldn't ever be surprised. UBISOFT was always more of a console publisher from what I recall back in the day during their rise to prominence. Their rep in the PC gaming world isn't very good at all at this point.
Nothing new, just more "Fight the pirates, more DRM more DRM!" It's sad, look at GTA4, not only is it a shitty PC port. But the online just barely runs, GFWL and Rockstars shitty service kept from playing for 3 days, plus they lock your graphic's so you can't change them unless you log in or something, I haven't figured that out yet. I paid 30USD. It's getting to the point were pirating games is less hassle then getting them legitly.

As for Ubi, it suck since I love their games, Watch Dogs is looking good, but it's there DRM that make me not want to buy their games.
For a long time I've been hearing how annoying many games are becoming with their DRM protections nowadays. Even if just for that, I am glad I don't really spend my time playing on computers :B (and if I did, I'd probably dedicate myself to DRM-free games and emulators).

Has any of you PC-gamers in here been bitten by DRM-woes? I wonder what's the worst anybody around here has experienced (broken drivers? broken Windows install? broken DVD-drive?)

Being half-dead asleep and inadvertantly placing a restore attempt on my DATA drive instead of my OS drive in an attempt to "fix" a DRM problem. 250 dollars and several years later, I STILL have a giant folder full of unorganized data from my data recovery attempts.

I fully lost about 10GB of data that was overwritten in the OS restore process. Back then, I had a copy of Diskeeper running 24/7 to defrag my HDDs. Luckily, the fact that 99% of the HDD that got overwritten was fully organized and contiguous helped my recovery attempts. Still, I had to spend about $200-$250 on data-recovery software plus a week or 2 doing the revocery attempts to get most of my data back. Even then, as I said, I lost a small bit due to overwrite.

All this in an attempt to fix a StarForce DRMed game. (Turns out all I had to do was eject the disc and put it back in...) <_< This was back in early 2006.
The only real bad DRM I've run into, would be GTA4. Since I use steam I tend to get DRM free or less DRM then if you got the game without Steam. I know GFWL is about the worse nowadays you can get side from a few cases, like Ubisoft and GTA4.
I'm replaying the Ys games right now, starting from Ys I. The newest remakes though, I'm not such a retro-nut. It's impressive how through all games, the soundtrack constantly changes and still remains top-notch. (Other than the Zelda series, who also has great soundtrack, but recycles most of it in every new game)

By the way, the decision to get rid of the awesome japanese opening for Ys: The Ark of Napishtim for a soulless and really ugly CG-piece of crap in the PS2-version really has to violate some basic human rights.
A week ago I downloaded a PS2 emulator on my laptop, and since then I've been playing the game Naval Ops Warship Gunner 2, I've had many good memories with the prequel of the game on my PS2, and it's just such an addicting game...
