Nah, I agree with Brin. She sounded mentally handicapped at times.

Or like she has a really bad speech impediment.

People have strange ideas of what's funny.
I only got one comment on my poem. My waifus must seriously be shit. Oh dear. >.<

Score: minabi - 0, Cade - 2
I assume you're joking... But I'll respond anyway.

1) It's often best to just ignore Cade.

2) It's a good thing we don't all want to claim the same characters. I don't try to claim a character until a fair amount of time has passed after finishing the series. And I usually don't get to a series right away. Still, most of the characters I've wanted to claim have been available.

3) Your poem was fairly good. It was certainly at least a million times better than matt's. Personally, I prefer poems with a consistent syllable count. For example, my first three poems all have 8 syllables per line, and the last one has 12 per line. For the last one, the first four lines are broken evenly into 2 sections of 6 syllables each to help the reader form a good iambic rhythm. But that's just my preference and there's a lot of good poetry that's not like that. Despite the uneven syllable count, it was easy to read and keep the rhythm until I got to the second to the last line.
Why the hell am I being mentioned at all in the context of poetry?
You commented on his taste in waifu's. The two were unrelated, tough it's looks like he linked them for some reason...
Well I am gonna start on a poem cuz my school assigned it to me...

Here's the outline
So it seems like Motoko isn't even going to be called "Motoko" in the new movie. She's "Mira" now. Freaking Hollywood...

i mean i guess if the character if crappy you can just that that wasnt realy motoko and you'd me right
That would've worked if they'd billed the film as being "inspired by" GitS instead of it being an adaptation of the source material.
I originally wanted to say to stop caring when you'll always have the unsullied source material to enjoy but then 'Middle-earth: Shadow of War' makes me hate humanity.
Bruh, it's hard to stop caring when it's something so near and dear to your heart, you know?

I know it's just a fancy cartoon, but that shit was and still is important to me, and I love the Major as if she were a real person.
If I would actually look forward to watching a live action adaptation of an anime, I would probably be bothered by every little detail they changed. But I never look forward to a live action adaptation of anything I watched, read or played.

For anime, why would I want to see the same thing, but with real people instead of anime characters?

For books and many games as well, there's no way they can cover everything with the same level of detail and leave the same kind of impression the original did.

A good example would be Ender's Game. Even before I heard the reviews, I had no intention of watching it and so I didn't really care what they did with it. Rather, I think I was hoping they'd mess it up so I wouldn't be tempted to watch it.
There's also the aspect of people...getting in the movie but then never giving the anime or manga a chance. That's irksome to me. The only basis for someone's opinion on an entire franchise could very well hinge on this one live-action film.

AND you're gonna have noobs going around calling Motoko "Mira"! >.<
Well, I don't really care what most people think. Most people have a warped view of anime anyway. I just don't let that bother me anymore.

However, I might understand your aggravation. It may be similar to how annoyed I feel when translators take too many liberties.

I always play games with Japanese audio. And for the one's I play with English text, it can REALLY bother me when the characters say one thing and the text says another. I've felt like screaming out on countless occasions and I'm normally not the type to let things get to me.

It used to bother me in anime too, but now with anime I pay more attention to the video and audio and only use the subs to fill in the blanks. So if I can understand the dialog, I won't even notice most of the subs. And when I can't understand the dialog, I wouldn't realize the subs were off unless it was out of context in the surrounding dialog.

Last week I watched 2 kindergarten girls have a yuri moment. You can't blame those people.
People complain about modern anime being all moe and lasciviousness, but then that's the shit that gets all the attention. They feed in to the machine and then take issue. It's silly.

Anyway, not all anime is perverted. I've been watching Flying Witch, for instance, and it's really good.

Yes, but one of them was a dragon. Totally doesn't count.
You sound like one of those guys who says it's not weird or pedo-y because the loli in question is either not human or really old. ;p

At least Zol gave you a proper one right after.

That covers it, it does.

What I really hate about anime is the copy pastes with slightly altered designs. First time you see them, it's ok, second time, you still go "ok", third and beyond and still you see the same osananajimi/dense mc/abusive tsundere/overly humane mc/meganeko/imouto/whatever.... ̄ヘ ̄

As to why I suddenly mention this, seeing Zol's comment on live action somehow or the other makes me want to say it. o3o

They were related based on that Cade's comment from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away was relevant to the topic of the thread I posted the poem in, and so I was teasing myself with it. My purpose for posting again here about the situation was also in part playful, but furthermore I wanted to ensure that if some people didn't notice it simply because they aren't checking the posts in that forum thread, that I could give them another chance.

Matt, about your assignment...

about live-action adaptations

Edit: note to self... minabi, part of the reason why all your forum posts take so long to create is that they're all essays... <.<
There is a LA for Gantz. I understand, that the LA is closer to the original Manga than the Anime series. I enjoyed both.

I just updated a bunch of the scripts I had on Greasy Fork. For most of them (including that one) I was only adding a site and/or fixing the include line for Konachan (separating .com and .net) so that it would actually be searchable on Greasy Fork.

There were a couple where I actually made meaningful changes to the code. But most of the ones I truly want to improve I haven't gotten to yet.

*Edit: There were a few new ones that I hadn't uploaded before as well.
You have to hand it to the Thai for coming up with some amazing cognates ......Theppa_dung_porn Coconut Company and using them on their products.
