[News] Tumblr to ban "Adult Content" from December 17
Some of you may have noticed Tumblr accounts dissapearing in the last couple weeks. Turns out this is an official action by Tumblr as they're completely banning anything they deem "adult content" (exceptions apply where they're legally required). The feedback coming back from artists is that it is being applied across the board, everything is being targeted regardless.

Unfortunately this means some of our source links will soon be dead. If you know where an artist is moving to, even temporarily, please update their wiki entry.

PS. do not take this out on any developers or other low level staff of Tumblr that you may encounter. They're potentially about to lose their jobs over someone else's bad decision.

Edit: the guildeline post was updated. It now states any photo or illistration.
And people still think freedom of speech is a real thing. >.>
Right now, it's no speach. The autmated flagging is flagging everything including their own news post by some reports.

Most artists are headed to twitter until they can direct users to artstation, pixiv or somewhere else.
I don't even use Tumblr and I think it's ridiculous. I KNOW it is.

Just like how you can't post artistic nudity or mildly risque art on Instagram. I follow a popular artist who had a post removed just recently when the character wasn't even exposed in any way!

Yeah, that's super weird actually. Tumblr definitely doesn't have any theme or mission statement - why would they care what kind of content their users display??

It's in response to being taken off of the app store, right? Psh either way that's super weak of them... guess they're like DA now... and now DA probably prefer it to be rated PG haha.

Well, looks like Hentaifoundry might not be totally useless after all ^__^
Everyone should move back to newgrounds. It all started there, it would be fitting if it ended there to.

Nobody wants to go back to newgrounds tho haha
So much for freedom of expression, Tumblr should be ashamed, like so many other image hosting sites, they are trying to introduce a nanny state. We are overwhelmingly, here on Konachan a mature audience and should have the right to choose what we see.

Many sites, including Konachan have the option of choosing to opt out of explicit content, this is sensible solution, why can't Tumblr do the same?

Over censorship is driving the artistic community into oblivion, such a shame. Next we will be censoring Michelangelo's David, because it showed his penis. Art is the ultimate expression of the artist to share their amazing imaginations and delight us all, without guilt.

I say fuck Tumbir and the leaky boat they arrived on! :(

dA has more tollerance for that large gray area where you can have nudity before you reach the "is it porn?". It just doesn't show up much until you go down the right category path. Tumblr is stating there will only be tollerance for the legal requirement - images depicting breastfeeding for example.

Yeah but actually, DA has been acting strange recently as well, deleting deviations for sexual reasons.

Obviously fetish material is much of what is popular but well, that doesn't always stop them from banning it seemingly at random.

And no they don't allow sex scenes...
