How did you come up with your account name aka nickname?
Alright people I going ask you guys how did you come up with your account name aka nickname as you can call it.
Is it original? Does it mean something special? Do you use it often to other sites you go to or do you choose a diffrent one? Where does the origins of your nickname come from? If you have others what are they then?

The main thing is you talk how you come up with your account name aka nicknames for either only here on konachan or other places.
This was acutally meant to be in the Friendly Topic but I find myself this question will die out after a couple of replies so I created this thread for all people who are new and for those who are already are here in konachan.

Rules for this thread is that you only talk about the topic of the thread and nothing else.
You can discuss how to come up with a new nickname or other small talk but as long it stays within the topic off nicknames. Almost forgot NO rip-off are allowed :-)

I can start with myself then:
The orgins of my nickname FoliFF comes when I was in primary school, when one of my friend called my real name backwards. Then later when I played counter-strike with my friends I typed my name backwards and changed it abit and it became FoliFF and since then I have using it for all kind of sites I have entered. The F:s in FoliFF doesn't mean anything it comes the time I played counter-strike that I put either the consonants or vowels as a big letter. Either does FoliFF mean anything. Now in recent time I notice that some people start to call me for fluffy, even IRL <.<
You can google FoliFF to find yourself some places I'm member on.

I have another nickname I came up with when I played good old Halo 2 long time ago, and it's KeK. I actually wanted to use KeK more but since there arn't many placed that are allowed to have 3 letters only I had to go with FoliFF. One funny part also when I came up with KeK as another nickname I didn't know it means LOL in WoW, when someone from the horde types lol and someone from the alliance sees it. Which is also have it orgins from korean approximation in english of laughter when typed on a Korean keyboard during Starcraft matches. BLIZZARD FTW
Well, I always used the nickname "unnowen", which is totally random, but I somehow wanted to innovate and created KeckII, that is the biggest telescope on the world(and outside it too)
I'm a sky fanatic, I love seeing the night sky, as it is the only thing that can't be touched by man.
I'm called Abyss sometimes, so I've got some accounts named after it, like "Endless Abyss"
And that it, I don't remember any other nick xD
Agos was actually a screen name that comes from four letters of my real name.
Whether they're from my first or last name I'm not telling. (I like my anonymous air)
You all know from what my nickname came from.
Still doesn't hurt to tell more about it^^
Tensa Zangetsu from Bleach. It's just that I like it's meaning. Tensa Zangetsu means something like Heavenly chain cutting/slicing the moon. Tensa would be "Heavenly chain". That's it.
Tales of Destiny main char. Been using this Screenname/nick/ID/etc. Since '97 I think. First used was for an email account (which I still use to this day).

I tried to use it with AIM way back, but AIM had a 10 char limit, so it started off different and evolved as AIM improved:

  • StahnatTOD (Initial)
  • Stahn at ToD (AIM allowed spacing/formatting)
  • Stahn Aileron2 (AIM increased to 16 chars or so)
  • Stahn Aileron (Found out this name was reserved for me MUCH later on because of the Netscape/AOL merger. I had a netscape account with that user name, which was why I couldn't sign up for it at first and wound up using Stahn Aileron2 for several years.)
If it's not available, I use alt versions:

  • Stahn.D.Aileron
  • StahnDAileron
I prefer the first alt if I can't get my standard version. The second I use if I can't use periods (.) in the name.

The "D" came from the idea of the char coming from Tales of Destiny and his weapon/partner, Dymlos.

I use this nick (or its variant) damn near everywhere I go if I can. Bardiche actually found out I sometimes posted on GameFAQs (this was under the nanoha PSP game forum).

As to why I picked this name, it's because Stahn was like the ONLY male character I was exposed to back that that I didn't mind taking after as a nick. I can probably come up with more creative nicks now with my exposure to the 'net and my limit JPN knowledge, but I'm quite attached to my nick ^_^
My username was born in a day of boredom, i was watching elfen_lied, and i was really fascinated with all the blood, then started calling me "Elfengore" ^^'

I have used it in different places, doujin moe. org, hi5, faceboock, fotolog -.-
That same day I created my first MSN ~~elfengore_blackstar@~~~ :D

I have sleep -.-
Kisumi comes from a funny, long... semi personal story. I RP a lot, and I have probably in the dozens of names across the whole internet... but I never intermingle, I don't cross places or give out other names to people who met me under a different one. Kisumi is by far my favorite name, and person. Most of my other characters are faked for RP, that is... being evil, being a tsundere, being shy, or overly cute. Kisumi is not faked in any way, everything about her, even physically besides the whole eyes, hair, and kitsune thing, is me. Wen She was first being thought of, all we had was kitsune, we knew she was going to be a foxgirl. We tried tonnes of variations of words that sounded close, and when I heard Kisumi it instantly attached. Since then I've seen things, places, or characters named Kisume, or even Kisumi somewhere... If anyone knows Japanese, I'd be interested in what the kanji for Kisumi are, and what they mean.
After some searching, I have found there is no Kisumi in the Japanese language itself. So, the best I could see is that it is the combination of Kisu (kiss) and mi, which depending on the Kanji used (and how its used) would stand for: fruit, nut, ear, body, person, meat, or "not yet". So...you can come up with some interesting combinations there by twisting things...like... Kissing Fruit..Kissing Nut...or even change the combintation to Nut Kisser :P.

But I think Kissing Person fits you better for this translation. As for the Kanji themselves...I don't know those....well...I used my brother's Japanese to English dictonary (he knows Japanese and is married to a Japanese Woman :D ) for the most part. I tried finding in online dictonaries...but...that did not quite work...I even used online translators...did not work. So...we will have to go with what I was able to figure out.

As for me? My name comes for when I was in the military. I have played DnD since the times of 2nd ED, well over 10 years ago. I have been rping for even longer than that, but my current name comes from DnD. In one campaign, our DM had us be gods. So, I picked up the mantle of the soul forger. The god of soul creation in other words. But...I couldn't come up with a good name for him, or looks. So I went with the mysterious way of things and made his name "Forger of Souls". It worked wonderfully. Since than, it has been the main stay for my name on rp sites. But not everywhere that has a forgerofsouls is actually me.

My favorite points in that campaign was when I turned an entire planet into a living creature to kill an evil god with. Another good part of that campaign was when my character was turned evil. When that happened my character grew black flaming wings. He even started using a sword at that point (previously I had him using a scythe and hammer as his weapons of choice), and because his personality was so different when he was evil our DM had the evil gods that turned him evil name him Ja-akuha no Tamashii. This is what they gave him, I didn't understand it so well back than, they said it means "Evil Blade of Souls" or something like that. Still have my character sheet to. Most of it is unreadable though because of all the erasing I did on it during the game itself lol. So I really do not know how accurate that is. But yeah, that is the story of my name.
PAIIS = Personal Artificial Intelligence Interface System

I know I've explained my name before, but since this thread's dedicated to just that, I thought I'd throw mine in again. So, explanation made short, it's the name of an AI in a novel I'm working on writing. Not much more explanation is necessary, I don't think.
*Kisumi's temple vein throbs and her ear twitches.*

Nut kisser~? Boy you're asking for it~!

I think 接吻体 suits me better~ *giggle* Ki Su Mi, I chose body, for good reasons~
Basically my name have been alter and made fun of by too many people due to my nature of being patient with those jokers (My buds~)

It usually begun quite innocently like those school kids calling names and all...Samuel eventually became Ah Sam (In cantonese it either mean 3 or Clothe) and soon after from 3 to tree...Since i'm quite immune to being call a tree and clothing,Then they attacked me with japanese later on...Samuel was translated as Samyueru which then they take "My" which also is "Mi" and take the end which is "Ru"...Turn my name into a femenine name "Miru" which was later become "Mill"....

Shinkai,I got that name when i spent some quiet time by the beach and wondered what do sea or ocean called in Japs,So i look it up a bit and it been sticking into my head~Shinkai can be mean Deep Sea or Heart Break...Love the sea a lot~
Mine is usualy thought of as odd by the people I know. "cosmicmenace is dumb" I hear it alot but either way its pretty much my nickname on every site im a part of. I was at first going to simply call myself "menace" but I figured someone already had it as its not that original.

So i thought for about 5 seconds as to what im into and space poped into my head. Then I just decided to put a cosmic in front of menace and cosmicmenace was born. From those who think its dumb I hear it alot but its been my screen name on different sites for years. Those who know me know me as cosmicmenace on a lot of different sites so I just decided to run with it
I came up with my name while me and a friend were killing each other in...emm I cant remember. I wasn't happy with my current name, which I also forgot, and randomly tried to think of another one. while I was thinking, I randomly thought of i am ZIIIM, so I used that. I use it on all sites, since its always free. The only other name I go by is Jigsaw, but its normally taken.

interesting friendship you have...

my name stems from the daytona 500 races and my middle name. i needed to create an email for school related stuff back in 6th grade. @ the time i was fascinated w/ national association for stock car auto racing, so i put the 2 together and used for my mail. i've just stuck w/ it since.
Well, I used to be koolaidman, then koolaiddude. I normally use serious names for fantasy games, so I had to come up with a good one, Maron just kind of came to be. In Oblivion he became a vampire, then with some of my mods a Lord. It kind of flowed, Lord Maron. The koolaid thing seems juvenile now even though I've been known by it for years, so most of the places I am still known as some variant of koolaid(person), but I've started to transition to Lord Maron, changing names when I can and using it for new things.
Going from the title, may nae came together back a long time ago when I like the car Cuda, and the 007 movies. i put to two together.
Not much to say here... Wade's my last name... not very interesting I know XD
Mine's pretty easy. It's because I love Fate from Nanoha (and everything in Nanoha too), but I didn't want Fate's name so I chose her device instead.

Though I am like Kisumi. I've RPed (and somtimes I miss it), so I have a lot of names to go around. I never really stick with one name everywhere I go and if it's like an account or online game where I can change my game, I tend to change it a lot just cause I like to go under different names. Most of the time these days it's names from anime/manga that might be obscure unless you know it very well (ex: things or characters from Nanoha that even Stahn probably doesn't know ;).), or romanji versions of certain Japanese words that I like. I do have one personal name that a friend of mine gave me and if I were to settle on one nick everywhere it might be that one. But for now, I'm just the person with numerous names.

Oh, and the 752 is from a nick I used while playing a game called Mech Commander 2 online in those game rooms that Yahoo has if I remember, but it was actually 257 then, so I felt like reversing it on this account. Anyway I felt like it brought me luck back then when I felt like I wouldn't be able to win a lot of games but I surprisenly did, which led me to rank up in the Clan I was in the order of the number (So yeah I somehow skipped ranks and then suddenly became the 2nd in command of that Clan). When I made this account I had remembered it and decided to put it back in.

On another note: @Kisumi: Yeah there really isn't anything for Kisumi, though I swear I've heard some characters from anime/manga/games have it. It does feel like a mix between Kasumi and Kitsune to me though.
Kisumi is bit of a long word to have its own kanji. I know a lot of Japanese names are made of multiple kanji anyway, so having a three kanji name doesn't bother me.
You do realize you can probably reduce it to 2 kanji if you're willing to break it into either:

  • ki + sumi
  • kisu + mi
Though according to the IME built into Win7 Ult, there is no singular kanji for "kisu" (all 5 kanji conversion are a kanji char + す [su]). Ki + sumi might net you a shorter kanji name. Oh, and just to let you know, acording to Win7's IME and Google Translate, there is a kanji for "su" that equates to "nest/den" ^_~

A bit of work with the IME (to convert the romaji we type into JPN chars, including knaji) and Google Translate (so you get an idea for the kanji's meaning) will net you a kanji name if you're willing to put in the effort.
Honestly 接吻 sounds more perfect then I could have hoped for. the first two are Ki Su which is also written as Kisu, which is kiss, kissing, or kisser. That particular kanji for body, Mi, can mean body, person, life, or torso. Put in a sentence literally, my name can mean "One who kisses the body", or if you want to get all spiritual and poetic about it, "One who kisses life". I think it sounds even prettier now.

I'm getting mixed messages from a bunch of different sites, but this all checks out on one, good enough for me.
Well. If only it were Kizumi ... The one who damages life. Or the one who wounds life. Hehe.
/jjk jk it was only my thinking XD

Well... nice name nevertheless. Thou the -mi ruins the cool sound of it XD

*cue Basilica*
I wish I could read japanise. Though language have never been one of my strong subject in school-.- The can speak and read and talk 4 diffrent languages but my grammar suck ass...
Yeah, well, in theory I'm SUPPOSED to know:

  • English
  • Vietnamese (Native Language)
  • Latin (JHS - 7th Grade)
  • Spanish (JHS - 8th Grade)
  • French (HS Language class)
  • Japanese (HS Elective Class)
I only know English well. I never cared for Vietnamese (despite it being my ethnicity - I've yet to meet another Vietnamese person I can get along). Latin and Spanish were one-off classes. French I didn't like (which is funny; I picked it for my language course because I didn't want to bother with Spanish again...)

Japanese was the ONLY language I had real interest in and to date is the closest thing to a true second language for me. My JPN grammar is meh, but my vocab still sucks horribly (partly because I anal-retentive about not just memorizing straight translations but understanding the entomology behind words. JPN is very context-sensitive, so it helps to understand the background meaning behind words rather than rely on pure, straight, 1-to-1 translations.)
Now we post the languages we know? :D

Well.... just like you... SUPPOSED to...

  • English (self-considered native language)
  • Romanian (live-in-country language)
  • Hungarian (native language)
  • French
  • Latin (oi ... latin doesn't mean Italian, for you "never-heard-of-that-ancient-language" people out there: Roman Empire -> Latin language |||||| Italians speak ITALIAN. You might say that they have the same words.... guess what... many languages have latin as their base or sub-base -err how should I say it- source).
  • Japanese
  • Russian (FORGOT EVERYTHING I LEARNED >_>)

you've got that right

well, I know or at least am introduced in

*English(it's a must nowadays...)
*Portuguese(native)
*Italian(my family is from there)
*Espanish(all the neighbor countries speak it...)
*Japanese(a little from HS end self-learning)
*Latin(just a little, the veeeery basic, only enough for understanding the elfen lied opening xD)

*edit*
btw, isn't this getting off-topic?
it has no connections to the original one...
Right to off-topic now. Well I can say I use sometimes FoliffHis as a nickname now that's if FoliFF is already taken for some reason, lettercharacter is not enough or to create more than one char on a MMO game.
Hmmm... I'm using other nicknames as well... like for deviantar I have sikkness (or sikked?). Well mainly because ***is definitely not Death the Kid*** of it's symetry. siKed . 2 - 1 - 2
But that nick is too widely used. I use it in games sometimes. But my ingame (FPS) name is 1nFlaMaBiL. Inflamabil is the Romanian word for inflammable. Sometimes 1gN1S / 1gn1s / Ignis / Ignis Divine.
I haven't used many other nicks. Hell, I've used pseudo-variations of this one and I still sometimes forget which ones I need to use on certain sites (the stupidest thing being whether or not it's, "StahnAileron," "Stahn Aileron," or, "Stahn_Aileron." Though I think I don't use the last one except on one site, which I believe is GameFAQs.)

My use of the other alts (the ones with a "D" in them) is a much more recent occurence. I think I'm more likely to switch over to those than deal with space/underbar variations. I'm more likely to recall if I used a "D" or not it seems.
