Okay, I think I fixed the stuff in the lower left, and I managed to get the file size down a few megabytes as well. If there's something else fucky with it... *shudders*
The reason why I didn't see it at all before is because, as a standard, my monitor is set to 100% contrast, and it looked just like pure white unless I viewed the monitor from an odd angle or stared at it until my eyes hurt. I decreased the contrast to 18% and saw it plainly though... so from now on I'll do this for other image edits as well. =)

An easy way to check if there's something left is adjusting the brightness to -100% (image, not screen). This brings out the "invisible" BG features you may have missed.
You did a good job ^^
Thanks for the tip. I'll keep it in mind =)kamenitza said:

I did everything but the last step in MS Paint. Pasting blocks of pure white over the smoke etc. But there was a region left along the bottom 150-200 pixels or so of the bow where the background was an off-white (ranging from 247-254 R/G/B instead of 255) for 3-20 pixels off the edge of the bow. I took my time trimming that with the eraser tool, leaving a 1-2 pixel layer. There was still an extra sharp/aliased-looking region where the puff of smoke coming off the bow was, so for that I booted up GIMP (and took a few minutes familiarizing myself with it), blurred it, then erased a section that looked like a bump/protrusion when zoomed out, and blurred it again.
By the way, since we already have Hawkeye here what about the other avengers from the artist?
