You would think the structures nearest the waterfall would have problems with wood rot.
Mudslides probably not. That's steep ground with lots of drainage and heavy vegetation so it would take an weather event more extreme than a typhoon to get the saturation conditions for mudslide.
And Japanese feudal culture has always coped with nautural and man-made disasters leveling their buildings. Fire, earthquake, wars, floods. So much gets swept away and they kept rebuilding seemingly in the blink of an eye.
