In AB! meal tickets had a sort-of important role so you'd know one when you see one. Plus, Kanade loves her Mabo Tofu. :)personguy said:

I have to point out Mapo Tofu is written Chinese...
The Japanese have this writing system called Kanji, ya see...^_^;
Yeah,maybe I should say Chinese character > <
Technically it's the same thing: all Kanji chars are Chinese chars as far as I know. (I'm currently not aware if any of the Kanji chars are modified and are strictly JPN in origin.)
I think for some words the JPN prefer using Kana...But when written on small items (like a lunch ticket), they'll revert to Kanji (as it's usually shorter overall.) Mabo/Mapo Tofu/Dofu is one example: I tend to see it more in Katakana/Hiragana than in Kanji. (And hence the differing ways I've see in romanized too...)

Well, I know some kanji characters are very old-fashioned, Chinese don't use them today. Besides, I remember that one of Japanese teachers says Kanji is more formal than Kana and overusing Kana is somewhat childish. I'm not sure whether she's right or not....
Anyway, thank u for your explanation. > <

it just has in the small image this square look and in the middle of the ticket you can not really see what it is
and then those begging eyes...
and thats why it was so funny when I found out that it is a ticket xD
Well, the Japanese don't use all the Kanji available to them either. You only need to know about 2000-3000 to be considered literate. So some of the archaic Chinese chars not in use by the Chinese but are JPN Kanji Chars might be inthe same boat of not being used. I don't know the actual total Kanji count in Japanese, but I'm sure there's plenty not commonly used or are just obsolete.DOROKO said:

And here I also always thought it was a condom in her hand. And I also expected her to be Konata from Lucky Star, too (given the name of the site and all that).
Damn, makes me feel like an amateur at anime now >.<
