Looks like a very dusty scan - too much to be accidental. It really annoys me when artists (or photoshoppers) deliberately do this.

I made pancakes this morning, I can assure you, flour does not work like that. Even if it did get accidentally ejected from the mixing bowl, it would have settled down not far from the bowl. Even my flour mill, which does put some flour dust into the air, does not put even a fraction of what is shown in the image.SciFi said:

This looks intentionnal to me, and I really think it fits the image well.
It reminds me that this is just an image of that everyday scene. It shows that time passed since the scene in the photo, and events probably happened in the life of that girl and the one who took the photo. It helps imaging a context to this scene and I like it.

I've seen a few scans in my life, and I can tell you with utmost certainty that this isn't one :)
