Oh friends, not these tones!
Rather, let us raise our voices in more pleasing
And more joyful sounds!
Joy! Joy!
Rather, let us raise our voices in more pleasing
And more joyful sounds!
Joy! Joy!
These are the opening lines to the vocal portion of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125. (Better known as "Ode to Joy") Translation taken from Wikipedia.

I think German is the best language for mysterious and magical stuff.
And sometimes... Aggressive... *thinks about Asuka*

To be honest, I don't like the german language... and I am german.
thats maybe the reason why it does not sound "special" to you. Because you speak it all the time. But for non German people it has a special ring to it :)makaan said:

I 2nd this, other then Japanese, German is the only other language I would ever want to learn, plus the fact I'm half German.gammelhammel said:

Heh... I only want to learn Russian, more Japanese and maybe Chinese. I'm not interested in other languages aside from English and French (because those are the main the most extended languages on this planet). It's kind of useless to learn German if you won't live in Germany.
Well it's not only that I don't like it, I literally hate it. For no aparent reason. Well... who cares.gammelhammel said:

Well useless it may be, but there are people who learn the language because they are interested in or simply like it.Tensa said:

Also, as things currently are, I strongly recommend you to stay away from germany, as it is currently on the best way developing into a police state. There are already dangerous sings of that happening (again... people just don't learn).
Our people still have the means of stopping this development but they don't do so because of this:

Nope, it hasn't. And I'm not saying that because of some grudge against Germans (Czechfag here) or something like that. It's not like I hate this language neither, but it just doesn't have any "special ring".gammelhammel said:

There are other places where German is common such as pennsylvania. And who is to say knowing more languages is useless? Maybe at some point there is some text in german and you want to read it? Such as this picture :DTensa said:
